What is Coaching?

Writer's picture: EmilyEmily

Coaching is a thinking partnership between the coach and the client. As a coach, I believe that the client knows what they want and what they need to do.

  • That inner knowledge may be blocked from the client’s awareness by shame or old assumptions about the world.

  • The client may need more information to make sense of their own thinking.

  • They may need to re-frame the stories they have told themselves.

Coaching provides a non-judgmental, compassionate, open space in which the client can do this work.

A masterful coach models integrity, curiosity, and a fierce belief in the capacity for excellence in all of us.

A masterful coach supports the client in identifying their values and strengths and understanding how to use those values and strengths to make the change they want to see in their lives.

An ADHD Coach does all of this with a deep understanding of how ADHD can impact the individual and their ability to be in the world. People with neurodiverse brains may come to coaching feeling broken, ashamed, not good enough. They may feel like they haven’t fit in, don’t understand “the rules,” struggle with things that other people find “easy.”

You are not broken.

ADHD Coaching supports the client in better understanding their unique brain wiring and developing the supports, strategies, and skills to make their neurodiversity work for them.
